BSCKids: Tell us a little bit about Lincoln Loud and maybe anything that you have in common with the character.

Bentley Griffin: He is clever, kind, and funny, and he is just trying to navigate middle school and family which is basically my life as well. Just like Lincoln, some days go better than others. I know I do not do everything perfectly either, but like Lincoln, my intentions are good. Sometimes I feel like I have a similar experience at school that Lincoln has in his family because I am in choir, which is like 5 boys and 40 girls, so see, it really is the same.

We spoke to you right before the “Save Royal Woods” episode a few years ago. How do you feel like the character of Lincoln has grown in that time?

Lincoln has definitely had a lot of new experiences since then. I would say he is steady, though, at finding or maybe accidentally creating new challenges to solve for himself. I think he is always growing and learning how to navigate his friendships and family dynamics which puts his cleverness and patience to the test. I love that he always, with the help of his family or friends, finds a way to have fun while solving any problem with humor!

Any funny behind-the-scenes things that happened while working on No Time To Spy: A Loud House Movie?

Yes! As a voice actor in animation, it’s not just about the words you say, but also the sounds you make. So you can imagine with Lincoln as a spy, who finds himself in a lot of crazy situations physically, he expresses some crazy sounds too! There are grunts, breaths, and other efforts to make his experience come to life. One day when I was recording some of these silly sounds, I thought to myself what a very cool and hilarious job I have. Here I was in a booth with a bunch of grown-ups watching and directing me all laughing at me and my series of OOOOFS, AAAAAHS, EEEEH, gulps, and wacky faces and somehow this was totally normal and celebrated. I knew if I let any of these sounds out at school later, I’d end up in the principal’s office for sure!

What would your favorite spy movie, besides this one, be?

Ok don’t tell my parents because they most likely still think Spy Kids is my favorite. They will say this if you ask them because when I was younger, I did watch this series sooo many times. It is great and I loved it. But I have now seen a few James Bond movies and man, these are hard not to love, maybe the best spy movies ever. I like the older ones, not sure why, might be all the weird gadgets and locations around the world. I love seeing new places.

Tell us about your own favorite family vacation.

Last summer, in Washington DC, the Spy Museum (seriously, you can look at the history on my Instagram) and Williamsburg, VA, where we stayed in one of the historic houses from the revolutionary times of America and spent days pretending it was 1776. I come from a family of travelers who explore and love to “make the world smaller.” That’s what my parents call it. I guess they think that every time we see somewhere new in this world; we have “made the world smaller,” and I think this is true. I have a promise to get to Greece. I love mythology, and I can’t wait to touch the walls of some of that history. I know you are not supposed to touch the walls, but I do love and feel the difference in being where history happened.

Tell us about Gran-Gran Myrtle and what Lincoln thinks about her.

I know Lincoln loves and admires Gran-Gran very much and is happy to have her in his family. Like any wonderful Gran-Gran, she puts up with Lincoln’s shenanigans and loves him anyway! After you see the movie, you will learn a few cool things about Gran-Gran too! I would tell you now, but if I did I might break the spy code.

Besides your own show, what is your current favorite Nickelodeon or Paramount+ movie or series?

The one and only SpongeBob SquarePants! I say this because that show has always kept me laughing, and when you grow up watching this hysterical little yellow guy and his friends and then you get the chance to work at Nickelodeon, that feels really special. When you’re at the studio, you get to see so much amazing and creative SpongeBob memorabilia that has such a big history at Nickelodeon. Then, if you’re lucky enough to get to meet the voice of SpongeBob, Tom Kenny, that is just the best! The times I’ve seen him, he is always so fun and kind, and he really has made me feel like a part of the Nickelodeon family. I look up to him as an actor, but also as an all-around nice guy! I’d also have to say from some of my younger years that Paw Patrol was a favorite for me and my little brother too. Fun Fact: I also got to voice Ryder for several Paw Patrol games and commercials, which was so cool to get to do!

What makes No Time To Spy: A Loud House Movie different from other animated shows out there and why should everyone tune in?

Of course, the main thing that makes it different and special is all the amazing characters in the large Loud family and how they always look out for each other, even when one of them might be making things in life a little crazy at the moment. Also, let’s be real, so many of our Loud House fan friends chat online about how much they love Lincoln and his David Steele character! It’s definitely a fan favorite from Lincoln’s imagination. A spy movie always equals suspense, adventure, and a little danger. This movie has all of what makes a good spy movie but with the added fun and humor of the whole Loud family! Lincoln gets to live out his biggest and most exciting spy mission ever! Get your best friends, get some popcorn, and get ready to see how Lincoln gets out of this one! I can’t wait for you all to see me and Lincoln do our spy thing!

Special thanks to Bentley Griffin and we look forward to watching No Time To Spy: A Loud House Movie on June 21st.
