Spoilers ahead for the dearest gentle readers who have not tuned into the newest season of Netflix's hit show, "Bridgerton."

The social season has officially begun, kicking off with the latest drama from esteemed members of the ton.

The first half of season 3's "Bridgerton"dropped on Netflix in the early hours of Thursday, with fans eager to watch as the next sibling in the series finds love. Whether they were looking for it or not.

The third season of Shonda Rhimes' historical romance series will shine a spotlight on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) in a friends-to-lovers romance. Viewers will recall Penelope's chaotic end to season 2, with overhearing Colin saying he will never court her and her fallout with best friend Eloise Bridgerton.

For any Floridian fans who thought they could be transported to Regency era England, they might have gotten a shock over a beloved Sunshine State icon's song playing during (arguably) the most important scene between the lovebirds.

Dale! Here's what the song was and why showrunners picked it.

Florida-tie in Bridgerton: Mr. Worldwide's song makes appearance

Known for its use of orchestral pop covers, you might have noticed Pitbull's 2011 hit "Give Me Everything" in the new season.

The song comes on in episode four when the pair both confess their feelings and determine they'd like to be much more than friends, which leads to a steamy make out session. Que the stripped-down cover of Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" by Archer Marsh.

In a recent interview with Business Insider, showrunner Jess Brownell shared why she picked the track for show. She said music supervisor Justin Kamps had given her a playlist at the start of the season containing new string covers of pop songs to choose from, with this one sticking out.

"I gotta tell you, I'm not a regular Pitbull listener, but I heard that song on the playlist without realizing what song it was at first, and just thought, this song has such an incredible build," Brownell said.

She acknowledges it was an odd pick but said it was a fitting choice because the momentum of the song "felt reflective of the couple's journey."

"If you think about that scene, it is years worth of their friendship and Penelope's crush coming to this giant crescendo," Brownell said. "I listened to a lot of slower romantic songs, but none of them felt like they had the right impact and the right build and the right crescendo. And that Pitbull song has so many builds within it that it just, I think, kind of nails the dynamic that's happening in the scene."

What other pop songs are in season 3 of Bridgerton?

Including Pitbull's hit song, here are the other songs covered in part one of season three:

  • Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever
  • BTS - Dynamite
  • GAYLE - abcdefu
  • Nick Jonas - Jealous
  • Sia - Cheap Thrills
  • Taylor Swift ft. Lana Del Rey - Snow On The Beach

Why does Bridgerton use orchestral covers of pop songs in its show?

The covers for the show have gone viral since the show's debut in 2020, covering "Thank U Next" by Ariana Grande, "Stay Away" by Nirvana and "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston.

In an interview with the "Today" show, Kamps said the reason why they choose pop music covers is so modern audiences see themselves in each scene, despite its Regency setting.

"Pop music can have so much drama and romance," he tells TODAY.com. "What the show does is heighten these kind of everyday feelings of romance that people have throughout their lives. And it's fun to hear a song that you've had a connection with in your own life transposed into this string quartet version that is playing with and affecting the characters' lives throughout the show.

"I just think that's a really fun juxtaposition for people and combination of bringing their own emotions into the story each season," he adds.
