This monthly bulletin brings together the current events and services offered by Career Services. You can find all our services and instructions on the Work and Career page and the Traineeships page. Our services are available to you right from the beginning of your studies and up to about one year after graduation. Finnish Language Cafe

Are you eager to learn Finnish in a laid-back and inviting setting? SIMHE - Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland is inviting you to join our Finnish Language Cafe (Kielikahvila)!

  • Improve your listening and speaking skills in Finnish
  • Learn in a relaxed, non-classroom environment
  • All language learners are welcome, no matter your level
  • Dive into native accents, slang, and everyday spoken language

No registration is needed – just bring your enthusiasm to learn Finnish! Whether you're a beginner or looking to fine-tune your language skills, our Language Cafe is the perfect spot to practice and refine your Finnish in a stress-free atmosphere. Want to update your CV, write application letters, look for a job on various job search portals or think about open applications and your network?

Join our Job Search Retreat, where you can focus on your job search in a calm and relaxed way. You will work independently, but our (UH) career counsellor will also be there to answer your questions. Job search guides, tasks and support from a career counsellor are available in Finnish, Swedish and English.  Remember to bring your own device!

The Job Search Retreat includes:

  • Independent work: take your time to focus on your own job search and what is relevant to you.
  • Expert help: a career counsellor will be on hand to answer your questions and provide tips on the different stages of your job search.
  • Useful material: job search guides are available, as well as exercises to help you e.g. clarify your objectives or find a way to express your skills and strengths.

If you wish, you can register in advance on JobTeaser, but you can also come at a time that suits you, from 8.30 to 12.00, and stay for as long as you like. If you register, you will receive reminders from us as the event approaches.

Career Counsellors on Campus (Fin, Eng)

Are you wondering what your next step could be in terms of future or career planning? Would you like someone to listen to your thoughts or provide tips on where to find additional information to support your considerations? Come and meet a career counsellor on campus without an appointment!

You are welcome to any campus, regardless of where you usually study. The meeting is limited to a maximum of 20 minutes. We ask you kindly to be prepared to wait for your turn.

Drop-In Support for Job Search on Zoom (Fin, Eng)

Are you seeking guidance on how to apply for a job or traineeship position? Do you need practical tips for job searching or drafting your CV, job application, or LinkedIn profile, or would you like to get feedback on them? Welcome to our Drop-in support for job search on Zoom!

No registration needed, individual time slots 20 minutes each. The Zoom link and instructions for attending are available on the Career Services' Guidance and Counselling page.

Traineeship guidance by appointment (Fin, Eng, Swe)

At the Traineeship guidance you can ask any questions you may have about your traineeship and talk about your situation together with a Career Services' traineeship specialist. You can book an appointment if you are thinking about the following:

  • you plan on doing a traineeship, but you are not sure where to start the process
  • you need tips on how and where to look for traineeship positions
  • you wonder how the traineeship subsidy works and how you can apply for it.

The duration of a guidance session is 30 minutes. Book your session on Vihta. New appointment times are opened on Vihta at around 10.30 - 11.00 on the last Wednesday of the month.
