Here is a serious question. Are you Pro-choice or Pro-life, and why?

Pro-choice up until a certain time, probably 2 months in. No exceptions for rape, incest, etc. BUT exceptions for diseased, disfigured and otherwise sub-standard feti.
I'm so against DST it scares me. The government should not be passing legislation that deals with what TIME it is ~_~

We agree on both Millen and DST. That's just scary.

Do you believe that healthcare companies (Aetna, Humana, etc) should cover the cost of birth control?

Absolutely not. If you want to make the choice to have sex, live with the consequences. Birth Control being covered by Aetna is akin to tattoo removal.

Are you sure you're not thinking of abortion? Because I guess that *sort of* makes sense if you're talking about abortion (as long as you're saying that nothing that can be proven to be a result of someone's own actions- overeating, smoking, reckless driving- ought to be covered) but birth control is *preventitive*, not a consequence, so that makes no sense at all.
You wouldn't even grant exceptions for rape and incest if it was a child? Because that's pretty screwed up. I mean I guess I can understand an adult, they ought to know enough if they get raped to go get that checked out before 2 months if they're going to want an abortion, but you can't expect a kid to do that. That seems really cruel to force a poor little kid who was raped by a parent to carry a baby.
Though really 2 months is kind of ridiculously low...a lot of people are only just finding out they're pregnant around that time.

You're right, my mistake, regarding preventative measures. Then let's see... hrm... (is actually thinking)...Imagine that there was a pill that prevented damage to your lungs from smoking. Should that pill be part of a health care plan? I really can't think of any real-world stuff that matches up, sorry.
And my "rules" were for adults. Children are a completely different ballgame, and I'm really not certain how I would approach that.
The two or three months is based solely on the growth of the fetus, not "how certain you are that you're pregnant."

I would say a pill like that should be available through healthcare.. Seems like it would benefit society in the long run, when a bunch of people are being productive citizens instead of dying of cancer.
So you *are* saying that nothing that's your own fault should be covered? That would make healthcare kind of useless, all of the top causes of death are things that are people's own faults. It's pretty unreasonable to expect that nobody is ever going to do anything that has consqeuences.

Quote from the first webpage that came up:
------------
Cancer Surpasses Heart Disease as Number One Cause of Death in Americans Under Age 85
The American Cancer Society's 2005 statistical report shows that, for the first time, cancer kills more Americans under age 85 than does heart disease.
Although this may not appear to be encouraging news at first, there is good news. Many cancers are preventable—about a third are due to the use of tobacco products and another third are related to obesity, lack of exercise, and poor diet.
----------
And the other leading cause of death that is competing with cancer- heart disease- is usually caused by obesity and poor diet.

From the National Cancer Institute: Scientists have learned that cancer is caused by changes in genes that normally control the growth and death of cells.
You're right in stating that many risk factors associated with cancer are the result of poor lifestyle choices, but cancer is also hereditary, as is heart disease.
So, the question then becomes: Mozz, if you were president, would you overhaul the nation's healthcare system or make any improvements/changes to it?

I don't see how anyone could argue that it wouldn't totally screw up healthcare to say that not only is anything that's your own fault not covered, but nothing preventitive is covered either. I mean honestly, it makes healthcare almost useless. Anytime anyone got cancer or heart disease, the companies would just say it was their own fault if they'd ever smoked or eaten fast food, and not cover it. What WOULD be covered under Mozz's plan?

Smokers can pay higher premiums for life and health insurance. If you want to partake in a certain activity such as skydiving, you can buy insurance to cover you for that (many companies have a list of activities they will NOT cover in your standard health policy). Sex should be treated the same way.

You don't think sex is way too common and expected of an activity to be treated that way?

Most people have sex. Not as many people sky-dive or smoke. If you had your premium raised due to having sex, pretty much everyone would have to pay that higher premium. It wouldn't really fly with the people buying the insurance, that's for sure.
