American Sebastian Korda beat Frenchman Harold Mayot in straight sets in the first round and then edged past South Korean Kwon Soon-woo in four on Wednesday.

The 27th seed last reached the fourth round of the French Open on his debut in 2020.

Korda and Alcaraz last crossed paths at the semi-finals stage of last year's Queen's, with the Spaniard winning 6-3 6-4.

Last year at the French Open was tipped to be Carlos Alcaraz's year but, like always, Novak Djokovic had somthing to say.

The Serb and the Spaniard met in a dream semi-final match-up with Djokovic coming out on top after Alcaraz suffered muscle cramps.

A year later, Alcaraz has his eyes on winning his first title in Paris but fitness issues could well become a problem.

You will notice the Spaniard wearing a compression sleeve on his right arm after injuring the muscle in his forearm.

After pulling out of the Monte Carlo Masters, Alcaraz said after his first-round win that it is getting "better and better".

Now then, it's time for third seed Carlos Alcaraz to take to the court as he battles it out against American Sebastian Korda on Philippe Chatrier.

The two-time Grand Slam winner put in a below-par performance in his second round win over Jesper de Jong.

Alcaraz won in four sets but question marks were raised over his chances of becoming champion in Paris.

He said after his win: "I prefer not to spend too much time on the court, I want to be in good shape for the next round but every match is different.

"I was in trouble at points. Jesper and I put on a good show."

Eventually he heads off court and receives a standing ovation.

Lots of fans wait and applaud him, knowing they probably won’t see him here again at the clay-court Grand Slam.
