2. USB-C cable storage area

Store the USB-C cable when you’re not using your Microsoft Audio Dock. The cable wraps around your Microsoft Audio Dock to help you store it.

4. USB-C

Use this port to connect to an external display. This USB-C port supports DP Alt Mode 1.0 with a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160. It provides power up to 7.5W.

5. USB-C
(USB-3.1 Gen 2)

Connect devices that use USB Type-C. For example, use a USB-C flash drive, USB-C hard drive, charge a mobile phone, and more. It provides power up to 7.5W.

Accessibility: Identify the ports by touch

Many of the ports on the back have raised imprints below them, which can help you identify each port by touch. The following list has the names of the port (from left to right) followed by a brief description of the raised imprint:

  • Power jack. The port is circular. It doesn’t have a raised imprint below it.

  • HDMI out port. Solid horizontal raised line.

Set up Microsoft Audio Dock

After you unpack your Microsoft Audio Dock, put it where you want on your desk. Leave your cables and cords out, so you can get to them easily.

  1. Plug the power connector attached to the included power supply unit into the power jack on your Microsoft Audio Dock.

  2. Plug the USB-C connector on your Microsoft Audio Dock into the USB-C port on your computer.

  3. Do one or both of the following, depending on how many external displays you want to connect (1 or 2) and the type of video connection each display uses:

    1. HDMI connection. Take an HDMI cable and plug one end into the HDMI port on your external display and plug the other end into the HDMI port on your dock.

    2. USB-C. Take a USB-C cable and plug one end into the USB-C port that has the display icon above it on your Microsoft Audio Dock. Plug the other end into the video port (for example, HDMI or DisplayPort) on your external display.
If your video cable doesn't have the appropriate video connector (for example, HDMI or DisplayPort), you'll need to buy another cable or an adapter. For more info, go to Connect Surface to a TV, monitor, or projector or Troubleshoot connecting Surface to an external display.
For more info about using multiple displays in Windows, see How to use multiple monitors in Windows.

  4. Plug your USB computer peripherals into the USB-A port or other USB-C port on your dock—depending on which kind of USB connection your peripheral uses.
Connect things like a mobile phone, USB flash drive, USB hard drive, and more.

  5. To use Microsoft Audio Dock as your speaker, select the Sound icon in the system tray on your Windows 11 PC, chooseSelect a sound output (>), then select Microsoft Audio Dock.

  6. To use Microsoft Audio Dockas your microphone, select Start >Settings > System >Sound, then select Microsoft Audio Dock under Input.

  7. To adjust the volume while you’re listening to music or watching a video, press the Volume up or Volume down button on Microsoft Audio Dock.
